VI. The gas industry of Turkmenistan: from the past to the present

In the mid-1980s, with the introduction of a number of small and large gas fields – Üçajy, Seýrap, Şorköl, Malaý, Garaçöp, Eastern Tejen and Bagaja – into experimental-industrial and industrial operation, the country’s gas industry continued its effective development, thereby increasing the volumes of produced “blue fuel”.

The Seýrap gas field was discovered in 1978 and put into experimental-industrial operation in August 1984. Industrial gas content of the carbon deposit was discovered in the terrigenous deposits of the lower Hauterivian age (Şatlyk horizon).
