Turkmenistan has made significant progress in the field of environmental protection, reducing total emissions by 10% compared to 2020. This was stated by the State Minister of Turkmenistan - Chairman of the State Concern "Turkmengas" Maksat Babayev, speaking at the International Conference "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan - 2024".
As part of this initiative, a strategy for the gradual reduction of methane emissions was adopted, which underlines the country's commitment to environmental standards and sustainable development.
This strategy includes a number of measures aimed at reducing methane emissions in various sectors of the economy, including energy and agriculture. It is expected that the implementation of these measures will not only improve air quality, but also increase energy efficiency.
Turkmenistan seeks active cooperation with international partners in this area, which will allow the exchange of experience and technologies for more effective emission management.
The measures taken are in line with global goals to combat climate change and confirm the country’s intention to contribute to improving the environmental situation in the region.
