The national company of Kazakhstan "QazaqGaz" is studying a number of initiatives within the framework of cooperation with the State Concern "Turkmengas", the website LSM.kz reports.
Including plans to discuss promising areas of both countries for joint geological exploration. Further work in this area will require signing relevant investment agreements.
The issue of importing natural gas from Turkmenistan is also at the negotiation stage. The supply volumes will be determined by the parties taking into account commercial and technical conditions.
"QazaqGaz" added that the domestic market is currently supplied with domestic raw materials. Only during peak consumption is the resource imported.
"The emergence of a shortage depends on the rate of domestic consumption and the stability of commercial gas supplies from domestic subsoil users," explained "QazaqGaz".
At the same time, comprehensive work is underway to increase resources, including the development of new fields, construction and reconstruction of gas processing and transportation facilities.
Earlier, the head of the national company Sanzhar Zharkeshov told LS that gas consumption in Kazakhstan could double in the next 10-15 years.
