Bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and the United Arab Emirates show unprecedented growth at all levels. This was stated by the UAE Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ahmed Alhai Al Hameli at a reception in Ashgabat on the occasion of the 53rd UAE National Day, News Central Asia (nCa) reports.

The diplomat noted that in the first half of 2024, the volume of trade turnover between the two countries increased by 5.9% compared to 2023 and reached about $1 billion 300 million in “non-oil trade”.

The ambassador also said: “We aim to double this figure in the coming years. Currently, the UAE is Turkmenistan’s fourth trading partner”.

Al Hameli stressed that “relations between the UAE and Turkmenistan have always been distinguished by outstanding results and activity at the level of the leadership of the two countries, as clearly evidenced by mutual visits at the highest level”.

«With regard to economic relations, in June this year, the UAE Embassy organized the UAE-Turkmenistan Business Forum. The UAE delegation during the business forum was headed by the Minister of Economy Abdullah bin Touq. The forum was attended by 50 UAE officials and companies, as well as 150 officials and companies from Turkmenistan. This forum was a great success, which resulted in the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the industrial chambers of both countries», the diplomat continued.

«The UAE, under the leadership of UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and with the constant support of UAE Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, seeks to strengthen relations in all areas and deepen ties between the two countries and the friendly peoples of the UAE and Turkmenistan», the ambassador emphasized.

“We look at the future of relations between the UAE and Turkmenistan with great optimism, given that these relations have many promising potentials and opportunities in the fields of gas, oil, renewable energy, food security and others,” Al Hameli explained.
