Turkmenistan and Japan discussed expansion of economic cooperation

On December 16, the joint fifteenth meeting of the Turkmen-Japanese and Japanese-Turkmen Committees on Economic Cooperation was held in Ashgabat at the Yildiz Hotel.
A Japanese delegation headed by Mr. Hiroyuki Tsubai, member of the Board of Directors of the Japanese company Itochu Corporation, executive vice president, president of the Machinery and Equipment company, chairman of the Japanese-Turkmen Committee on Economic Cooperation, arrived in Turkmenistan on a working visit to participate in the forum, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
The meeting was preceded by a meeting in a narrow format. The Japanese delegation included heads of large Japanese companies, as well as the Japan Trade Association ROTOBO.
The agenda of the joint meeting covered a wide range of topics. Key areas of cooperation include transport, construction, industry, electric power, ecology, green energy, etc.
The head of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov noted the representative composition of the delegations from both sides in his speech.
A positive assessment was given to the work of the committees, which are effective platforms for exchanging ideas, identifying new areas of cooperation and developing specific action plans for the near future in order to form a solid foundation for the development of further productive dialogue.
It was noted that regular meetings of the leaders of the two states give powerful political impetus to the promotion of large-scale and long-term initiatives aimed at strengthening friendship and partnership between Turkmenistan and Japan.
The speeches emphasized the successful development of joint cooperation in such industries and areas as trade, oil and gas and chemical industries, communications, finance, as well as healthcare, science and education.
During the meeting, a package of documents was signed between government agencies and leading Japanese companies in such areas as the chemical industry, gas industry, etc.
Following the joint meeting, a final protocol was signed.
