Participants of the Termez Dialogue discussed strengthening ties between Central and South Asia

The first meeting of the Termez Dialogue on connectivity between Central and South Asia, entitled “Building a Common Space of Peace, Friendship and Prosperity,” was held in Termez, Uzbekistan, from May 19 to 21. The event brought together about 200 delegates from more than 20 countries to strengthen regional economic and cultural ties.
The Turkmen side was represented at the meeting by Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of our country reports.
The meeting was attended by heads of foreign policy agencies, experts from analytical and research centers of Central and South Asian countries, representatives of financial institutions, international and regional organizations.
The participants of the event discussed the current state and prospects of interregional cooperation between Central and South Asia, including strengthening cooperation in ensuring security, stability and sustainable development, as well as expanding the role of the private sector and financial institutions in ensuring economic growth.
In its speech, the delegation of Turkmenistan voiced current issues and initiatives to strengthen cooperation between the countries of Central and South Asia in the transport and logistics, energy, economic and humanitarian spheres.
It was noted that, at the initiative of Turkmenistan, 2025 was declared by the UN General Assembly as the "International Year of Peace and Trust", which became a clear expression of recognition of Turkmenistan's activities aimed at ensuring global peace and sustainable development.
The participants of the Termez Dialogue expressed their conviction that the agreements reached at the meeting contribute to the further promotion of interregional connectivity and the maintenance of peace, security and stability on the Eurasian continent.
