The Department of Geology and Geochemistry of Yagshigeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas has developed an “Innovative hydraulic device for displacing air from the cavities of drill pipes”.
The device, invented by professors and teachers of the IUOG – Doctor of Technology Arslan Geldymuradov, Senior Lecturer Dovran Esenov, Senior Lecturer Rejepguly Gulmammedov and teacher Mahmut Haydarov, was issued limited patent No. 956 by the State Service for Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan.
The new development is designed to fill drill and casing pipes with drilling mud when they are lowered into the well and to displace air accumulations from the internal cavities of drill and casing pipes. In order to introduce this equipment into production, teachers of the Yagshigeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas and specialists of the Türkmengazburawlaýyş Directorate jointly tested it at the Galkynyş gas field at wells Nos. 261, 263, 231 and 264 of the Türkmengazburawlaýyş Drilling Directorate of the Türkmengaz State Concern at depths of 1,600, 2,350, 3,496 and 4,190 meters, respectively. As a result of the tests, it was found that by using scientifically developed innovative hydraulic equipment to improve drilling operations at wells, it is possible to prevent the occurrence of obstacles arising due to changes in pressure at the well bottom during drilling.
Another work of the university teachers is called “Air-jet cleaning device”. It is designed to flush and clean drilling rigs, their units and parts, to save working time and water, to ensure environmental safety, to ultimately reduce costs and to achieve normal, high-quality and long-term operation of the sophisticated equipment. Limited patent No. 935 has also been issued for this device by the State Service for Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan.
