UN Secretary-General arrives in Turkmenistan to participate in International Conference

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres arrived on Sunday, July 3, at the Turkmenbashi International Airport to participate in the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, held on the Caspian coast, TDH reports.
The distinguished guest was met at the airport by the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero-Arkadag. Antonio Guterres said that it was a great honor for him to take part in the International Forum of universal significance held in Turkmenistan, which follows the path of harmonious development.
Confidence was expressed that the agreements that will be reached as a result of discussions within the International Conference, covering current issues of our time, will have a positive impact on the economies of the countries of the world. Hero-Arkadag emphasized that the organization and holding of the High-Level Forum under the auspices of the UN is considered as a sign of universal trust in Turkmenistan.
It was noted that the Conference will contribute to increasing the economic potential of landlocked developing countries, developing interregional and international relations in the trade and economic sphere. As stated, parallel events, as well as meetings and negotiations between the relevant structures are planned within the framework of the Forum.
Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of holding the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries in the year of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the UN. This Forum is designed to promote cooperation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Conference will discuss issues of current importance for the global economy and identify ways to successfully resolve them, which will create broad opportunities for developing relations in the field of transport within the framework of international partnership. This will ensure the intensification of trade and economic ties at the regional and international levels, an increase in export-import operations between countries, and an increase in the standard of living of peoples.
