Scientific and practical conference "Caspian Sea - a sea of friendship and peace" was held in Avaza

On August 11-12, the Avaza National Tourist Zone hosted celebrations dedicated to the Caspian Sea Day, the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
In the morning of August 12, the scientific and practical conference "Caspian Sea - a sea of friendship and peace" opened under the moderation of the director of the Caspian Sea Institute Myrat Atajanov.
The opening of the conference was marked by a welcoming message from the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov addressed to the participants of the scientific and practical conference "Caspian Sea - a sea of friendship and peace".
Authorized representatives of Turkmenistan, ambassadors of the Caspian states accredited in Ashgabat, heads of representative offices of international and regional organizations, including the UN, OSCE, EU, as well as international experts spoke at the event.
In his speech, Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov noted the active and constructive role of Turkmenistan in promoting environmental issues in the Caspian Sea, in particular the Agreement on the Conservation and Rational Use of Aquatic Biological Resources of the Caspian Sea.
The importance of the Caspian Environmental Initiative, put forward by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the plenary session of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, was particularly emphasized.
During the conference, Turkmenistan's commitment to close cooperation with the Caspian states, international structures and institutions, as well as stakeholders across the entire spectrum of Caspian issues was noted.
The conference heard reports on topical issues, including priority areas of cooperation between the Caspian states in the field of hydrometeorology, protection and scientific study of the flora and fauna of the Caspian Sea, as well as compliance with environmental norms and rules.
The Conference participants noted that the Caspian Sea is a sea of friendship and peace, and called for continued joint work aimed at strengthening and expanding international cooperation for the sake of sustainable development and protection of the Caspian marine environment.
In the final part, the Conference participants adopted an Appeal to the President of Turkmenistan.
