On August 22, a trilateral meeting of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev was held at the Congress Center of the Avaza National Tourist Zone, TDH reports.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to the development of trade and economic cooperation, deepening partnership in the energy and transport sectors. It was emphasized that deepening cooperation and creating new corridors for the export of energy resources are priority tasks.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed Azerbaijan's great interest in enhancing cooperation in the fuel and energy and transport and logistics sectors, emphasizing the enormous prospects for the implementation of joint projects in specialized areas.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has put forward an initiative to develop cooperation in the field of geological exploration and development of deposits on the Caspian shelf. According to the head of Uzbekistan, the potential of the Caspian Sea opens up broad opportunities for deepening partnership between the fraternal countries, and combining efforts in this area will help strengthen economic ties and ensure energy security in the region.

Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that in recent years, the three states have made significant efforts to expand partnership in key areas, including energy, transport, trade, industry, investment, new technologies, digitalization and others.

In the context of developing energy partnership, electricity exports are of particular importance. Speaking about this, Hero-Arkadag mentioned the positive practice of cooperation in this area with Uzbekistan. Turkmenistan annually supplies significant amounts of electricity to this republic. Having noted the prospects for exporting Turkmen electricity to Azerbaijan, Hero-Arkadag expressed confidence that with the commissioning of a new power plant on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea, additional opportunities will emerge for energy supplies to Azerbaijan and through its territory further to European countries.

At the same time, the need to consider issues related to the export of natural gas from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan was emphasized.

The head of the Halk Maslahaty named the transport sector as one of the priority vectors of partnership. "We also noted the existence of great opportunities for the active use of the infrastructure potential of transport corridors connecting Asia and Europe along the route of the Great Silk Road. In particular, the importance of effectively using the transit potential of Central Asia and the Caspian region was noted," Hero-Arkadag emphasized.

Following the trilateral meeting, the leaders of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan adopted a Joint Statement. In addition, a package of bilateral documents was signed providing for the development of cooperation in the fields of transport and trade. A Protocol on the establishment of sister city relations between the Azerbaijani city of Fizuli and the Turkmen city of Arkadag was also signed. The trilateral summit emphasized the importance of further deepening cooperation in strategically important areas and confirmed the readiness of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan for practical cooperation in new areas of partnership.
