Turkmenistan is one of the leading countries in the world with a huge energy potential. Among the activities carried out to accelerate the development of the country’s economy, the leading place in this direction is taken by the production of various types of goods from hydrocarbon raw materials and the attraction of investments in the energy sector. In order to effectively fulfill the set tasks, the fuel and energy complex is consistently modernized.

In recent years, the energy sector has been developing through diversification, and the system of extraction and processing of raw materials is being improved. In particular, much attention is paid to renewable energy sources. The introduction of green energy is a primary concern for the environment and creates much less pollution than fossil fuels. This type of energy is replenished naturally: it is obtained from sunlight, wind, rain and snow, water, wave energy and geothermal heat.

Solar energy, which is the most powerful alternative energy in our country, is developing at a rapid pace. According to calculations, our country has more than 300 sunny days a year. The average daylight period is 12-14 hours. Solar panels are installed in various parts of the country to obtain solar energy.

The development of wind energy is also one of the main tasks in our country. There are great opportunities for using this type of green energy in various regions of Turkmenistan. In particular, it has been established that the wind speed is the highest in the Balkan region. In mountainous areas, the wind speed exceeds 4 meters a second, and in the Caspian Sea region – 8-10 meters a second.

Currently, Turkmenistan cooperates with leading countries and international organizations in the field of alternative energy and energy-saving technologies. In particular, relations have been established with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) to introduce alternative energy sources.

Today, large-scale projects in the field of green energy, aimed at protecting the environment and increasing the country’s economic growth, are being developed in Turkmenistan. The Law of Turkmenistan “On Renewable Energy Sources”, adopted in 2021, is aimed at strengthening the legislative framework for work on developing safe energy. The National Strategy of the Development of Renewable Energy in Turkmenistan until 2030 has also been adopted.

Now, the international community faces the task of preventing climate change and harmful emissions into the environment. The work carried out under the leadership of the Esteemed President vividly demonstrates the effective solution to these problems. The rationality and reliability of the use of natural energy resources are ensured. Cooperation with international scientific circles in this area is being supported, and experience is being accumulated.

The state policy in the field of renewable energy sources in our country is based on such clear objectives as increasing the share of environmentally friendly energy, strengthening energy security, creating competitive energy systems and ensuring the rational use of natural resources. Having set itself the task of reducing all emissions and a complete transition to an environmentally friendly economy, Turkmenistan pays great attention to the introduction of alternative energy sources in the period of the Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State.
