Turkmenistan participated in the regular meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government

A regular meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was held in Minsk on September 29, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported on its website.

The heads of government of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev, participated in the meeting. Turkmenistan was represented by Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan H.Geldimyradov. Armenian Deputy Prime Minister M.Grigoryan participated in the Council's work via videoconference.

In a narrow format, the heads of government exchanged views on current issues of economic cooperation within the Commonwealth, discussed and approved the CIS Scientific and Technological Development Strategy for 2026–2035, which aims to strengthen scientific and technological sovereignty, ensure sustainable socioeconomic development, improve public well-being, and enhance the competitiveness of the national economies of the Commonwealth member states.

Meeting participants also reviewed a draft Strategy for the Digitalization of the Main Multimodal Transport Corridors of the Commonwealth Member States. Its development was based on the shared interest of the Commonwealth states in further digitalization of the transport system, optimization of logistics processes, cost reduction, increased speed and transparency of transportation, and ensuring environmental sustainability.

During the meeting, drafts of the Strategy for Cooperation in the Development of the Information Society and Digital Economy through 2035 and the Action Plan for its implementation were also approved.

The meeting also approved the Action Plan for the implementation of the second stage of the CIS Economic Development Strategy to 2030, and signed the Action Plan for the preparation and implementation of the Year of Health in the CIS in 2026.

The next meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council is planned for the first half of 2026 in Turkmenistan.
