The Organizing Committee of the 30th Anniversary International Conference and Exhibition "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan 2025" (OGT 2025) announced that Malaysian energy company PETRONAS has become a Diamond Sponsor of this landmark event, which will be held in Ashgabat from 22–24 October 2025.
This strategic partnership underscores PETRONAS's confidence in Turkmenistan's role as a key energy hub and demonstrates the company's commitment to strengthening global energy security, sustainable development, and innovation.
PETRONAS was founded in 1974 with the responsibility for managing Malaysia's oil and gas resources. Over the years, PETRONAS has transformed itself into an international, diversified corporation with operations in more than 100 countries.
The company's integrated portfolio spans hydrocarbon exploration and production, oil refining and petrochemicals, marketing and trading, and the development and implementation of innovative energy solutions. As part of its strategic goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 (NZCE 2050), PETRONAS is actively promoting projects in carbon capture and storage (CCS), hydrogen energy, renewable energy, and other low-carbon technologies.
PETRONAS is proud to have been given the opportunity to contribute to Turkmenistan's oil and gas industry through investment 29 years ago, in 1996. This strategic alliance not only makes PETRONAS the first operator to invest in the offshore fields of this energy-rich country but also underscores Malaysia's trust and commitment to Turkmenistan. In May 2025, PETRONAS signed a new 25-year Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) for Block I, extending PETRONAS's presence in Turkmenistan until 2050. As a Diamond Sponsor of OGT 2025, PETRONAS reaffirms its commitment to strengthening strategic cooperation between Turkmenistan and the global energy community.
The conference's central theme, "Energy. Innovation. Development," fully reflects PETRONAS's priorities of introducing advanced technological solutions, ensuring sustainable and efficient development of the energy sector, and expanding opportunities for the rational use and management of energy resources.
The collaboration between PETRONAS and OGT 2025 will strengthen bilateral ties and support the development of a resilient and reliable energy system in Turkmenistan. It reflects a shared commitment to shaping a future where innovation, sustainability, and international cooperation remain key priorities for the energy industry.
As a Diamond Sponsor, PETRONAS not only provides financial and organizational support but also brings global expertise, strategic vision, and leadership to advancing the transition to low-carbon and sustainable energy. To date, more than 1,400 delegates from over 70 countries have already registered to participate in the OGT 2025 conference, and over 100 exhibiting companies will present their technologies and innovative solutions at OGT EXPO—Turkmenistan's largest and most significant energy exhibition.
