The Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care will send humanitarian aid to residents of neighboring Afghanistan affected by the earthquake, TDH reports.

This issue was discussed at a board meeting of the Foundation held on November 5 in the city of Arkadag. During the meeting, Oguljahan Atabayeva, Executive Director and Vice President for Medical Affairs of the Foundation, noted that the news of the recent catastrophic earthquake in neighboring Afghanistan was received with deep sorrow in Turkmenistan. This natural disaster resulted in numerous casualties and destruction.

In keeping with the Turkmen people's traditions of humanity, compassion, and mutual assistance, she appealed to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, asking for permission for the Charitable Foundation to provide humanitarian aid to the neighboring country and its fraternal people, especially children.

Noting the importance of sending humanitarian aid on behalf of the Foundation to the fraternal Afghan people, primarily to children and residents of Afghanistan affected by the earthquake, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave the relevant instructions.

Hero Arkadag emphasized the need for humanitarian aid to include medicine, food, clothing, and other essential items for children in need, and instructed that their dispatch to Afghanistan be expedited.

Previously, issues related to humanitarian aid to Afghanistan in connection with the recent earthquake were discussed at a meeting between Turkmenistan's Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Gurbanov and Afghanistan's Chargé d'Affaires in Turkmenistan, Fazal Muhammad Sabir.

According to foreign media reports, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck on November 3 in northern Afghanistan near the city of Mazar-i-Sharif (Balkh Province).
