The 24th meeting of the Turkmenistan-European Union Joint Committee was held in Ashgabat, according to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Representatives of relevant ministries and agencies of Turkmenistan, as well as staff from EU departments overseeing trade, transport, energy, the green economy, education, and humanitarian cooperation, participated in the meeting.
The meeting discussed the macroeconomic situation in Turkmenistan and the European Union, the development of trade cooperation, including support for Turkmenistan's accession to the WTO, the modernization of transport infrastructure, digitalization, cooperation in energy and environmental protection, as well as humanitarian and educational projects. Regional cooperation in the "Central Asia-European Union" format was also discussed.
The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in trade and the economy, including developing the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises and expanding mutual trade. Particular attention was paid to cooperation in the transport sector.
In the energy sector, issues of diversifying energy supply routes, developing renewable energy, and implementing energy-efficient technologies were discussed. The importance of environmental projects and reducing emissions was emphasized.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed their willingness to continue working together on projects and proposals, including the development of a bilateral Turkmenistan-EU Roadmap for the coming years and holding industry forums in Turkmenistan.
