Turkmenistan's 2026 State Budget Exceeds 131 Billion Manat

Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedov approved a deficit-free 2026 State Budget of 131 billion 845.1 million manat. The law "On the 2026 State Budget of Turkmenistan," signed by the head of state, was published in the country's central media on Monday.
The law establishes that "protected expenditure items of the State Budget of Turkmenistan include wages, pensions, state benefits, and stipends”.
It also stipulates that "in the event of a budget deficit, the sources of financing are funds from government borrowing and/or remaining budget funds, in accordance with the legislation of Turkmenistan".
Furthermore, the law stipulates that "additional revenues accruing to the State Budget of Turkmenistan in 2026 from other sources, as well as any excess revenues over expenditures, shall be used as a matter of priority to repay bank loans and finance sustainable socioeconomic development of the state."
The draft State Budget of Turkmenistan for 2026 was reviewed and adopted at the eleventh session of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan of the seventh convocation on November 22.
During the discussion, deputies noted that the 2026 State Budget provides for the accelerated development of key economic sectors - fuel and energy, construction and industrial, agro-industrial complexes, transportation and communications, textiles, and food industries.
