On March 20, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers via digital means, where a number of state matters were discussed, TDH reports.
During the meeting, Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Guvanch Agajanov reported on the results of meetings between the heads of the country's oil and gas sector and the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), which took place as part of the Turkmen leader's friendly visit to the People's Republic of China.
As noted, the discussion focused on issues related to the further development of productive cooperation in the gas sector. In this regard, the Vice-Chairman presented to the head of state a draft document prepared for the further development of the country's gas industry and its export potential, as well as the development of Phase 4 of the Galkynysh gas field. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the head of Turkmenistan and Hero-Arkadag for the opportunities created for the implementation of this important project.
Addressing the meeting participants, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the recent friendly visit of a Turkmen delegation led by Hero-Arkadag to the People's Republic of China and emphasized the significance of this visit in the development of the Turkmen-Chinese partnership. As emphasized, fruitful meetings were held during the visit, and important agreements were reached. Furthermore, negotiations were held to discuss prospects for cooperation in the oil and gas sector, in particular, the development of Phase 4 of the Galkynysh gas field.
The implementation of this historic project is intended to significantly increase natural gas production in the country and create numerous new jobs, the head of state said, signing a decree on the development of Phase 4 of the Galkynysh gas field. In this regard, the head of state addressed the corresponding instructions to the Vice-Chairman.
According to the document, the State Concern Turkmengas has been authorized to enter into a contract with CNPC Amudarya Petroleum Company Ltd. (PRC) for the turnkey design and construction of a facility for the treatment of 10 billion cubic meters of marketable gas per year and production wells sufficient to treat the same volume of marketable gas as part of the development of Phase 4 of the Galkynysh gas field.
