Turkmenistan Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Turkmenistan, Ji Shuming, according to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry's website.

"During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to the further development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the People's Republic of China," the statement reads.

Particular attention was paid to the recent friendly visit of the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to China, during which he held a constructive and friendly meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, the Foreign Ministry noted.

In particular, during the talks, the diplomats exchanged views on the practical implementation of the agreements reached during that visit.

As a reminder, during a March 18 meeting between Hero-Arkadag and Chinese President Xi Jinping in China, special attention was paid to prospects for cooperation in the fuel and energy sector, particularly the development of the Galkynysh gas field. The parties also discussed opportunities for cooperation in transportation and logistics, equipment supplies, green energy, and other areas.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov presented Xi Jinping with an invitation from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to visit Turkmenistan.

Late last week, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree authorizing the Turkmengas State Concern to enter into a contract with CNPC Amudarya Petroleum Company Ltd. (PRC) for the turnkey design and construction of a facility for processing 10 billion cubic meters of marketable gas per year and production wells for processing the same volume of marketable gas as part of the development of Phase 4 of the Galkynysh gas field.

Thus, the agreements reached at the highest level between the leaders of Turkmenistan and China are being fleshed out with concrete content and the implementation of new major projects in the oil and gas sector.
