Turkmenistan continues to strengthen its engagement with the global energy community by actively participating in the Offshore Technology Conference Asia 2026 (OTC Asia), which was recently held in Kuala Lumpur.
Organized by PETRONAS, the event brought together over 25,000 participants from over 80 countries, including leading energy companies, government officials, technology providers, and academic institutions. OTC Asia confirmed its position as one of the key platforms in the Asia-Pacific region for dialogue, innovation, and cooperation in the offshore energy sector.
The central theme of this year's conference was the need to build a more resilient and integrated energy system. Practical and scalable solutions in offshore field development, digitalization, and sustainable energy development were discussed.
The participation of representatives from Turkmenistan's energy sector underscored the country's commitment to maintaining close interaction with global industry development trends and expanding international cooperation.
The conference included a series of meetings with industry representatives. These focused on developing practical cooperation in enhancing offshore production potential, technical training, and knowledge transfer—key priorities in the ongoing modernization of Turkmenistan's energy sector.
Particular attention was paid to strengthening ties with Malaysian partners, including PETRONAS, which remains one of Turkmenistan's key international investors in the energy sector.
Meetings were also held with representatives of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Malaysian Oil, Gas, and Energy Services Council, focusing on strengthening technical dialogue, improving personnel skills, and creating a structured framework for international cooperation.
Following these meetings, international partners were invited to participate in Turkmenistan's upcoming flagship energy events in Ashgabat. These include the International Scientific and Practical Conference TESC 2026 (June 4–5, 2026) and the 31st International Conference and Exhibition "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – OGT 2026" (October 21–23, 2026).
Participation in OTC Asia provides Turkmenistan with access to advanced offshore technologies, digital solutions, and best international practices, according to the Turkmen Energy Forum.
