Prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation in the energy sector were discussed on May 12 at a meeting between Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Political Affairs to the Prime Minister of Malaysia Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marikan, TDH reports.

Emphasizing Turkmenistan's colossal resource potential, the parties exchanged views on deepening cooperation in the Caspian Sea. Marikan also expressed Malaysia's interest in participating in projects to develop the giant Galkynysh gas field to increase natural gas production.

Hero-Arkadag emphasized the strategic significance of the signing of a Protocol on Commercial Terms between the State Concern Turkmennebit and Petronas Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn. Bhd during the Malaysian delegation's visit.

He also noted that during the upcoming visit of the Malaysian Prime Minister to Turkmenistan, a Production Sharing Agreement is planned to be signed between the State Concern Turkmennebit and Petronas Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn. Bhd.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also emphasized the feasibility of implementing new projects in the gas chemical industry. The Malaysian representative confirmed the company's readiness to submit relevant proposals.

Hero-Arkadag also expressed confidence in expanding the partnership to implement digital technologies in production, modernize energy-saving systems, and strengthen environmental safety.

Noting the fuel and energy sector as a promising area for bilateral trade and economic partnership, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stated that Turkmenistan highly values ​​the constructive dynamics of its cooperation with Petronas over the past 30 years. During this time, Petronas has made a significant contribution to the development of the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea and the training of qualified specialists for the country's oil and gas industry.

Geroy-Arkadag noted that to mark this significant date, a scientific and practical conference and exhibition dedicated to Turkmen-Malaysian relations are planned to be held during the Malaysian Prime Minister's visit.
