On May 13, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov departed for a visit to the Republic of Tatarstan in the Russian Federation, TDH reports.

During the visit, Hero-Arkadag held a one-on-one meeting with the head of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, and with members of the delegations of both countries.

The interlocutors focused on the effectiveness of ongoing joint projects in various fields. Emphasis was placed on the importance of expanding the scope of cooperation. It was emphasized that regular high-level visits provide a powerful impetus for identifying new areas of cooperation.

As Hero-Arkadag emphasized, the 17th International Economic Forum "Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum–2026," currently being held, clearly demonstrates Tatarstan's growing international standing.

Particular attention was paid to partnerships in promising areas such as digitalization and high technology. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that Tatarstan's experience as one of Russia's IT leaders is of great interest to Turkmenistan.

It was also emphasized that cooperation is developing successfully in the oil and gas sector, manufacturing, and transport logistics. Regular flights between Ashgabat and Kazan facilitate business and personal contacts.

As TDH notes, the fuel and energy sector is a key area of bilateral cooperation. A striking example of this is the developing partnership with Tatarstan's Tatneft.

Turkmen specialists, together with their Tatarstan counterparts, are implementing innovative methods in hydrocarbon production. Joint projects to boost the operations of existing oil fields are contributing to a significant increase in their efficiency and the use of environmentally friendly technologies. For many years, the large Tatarstan engineering company KAMAZ has been effectively operating in the Turkmen market in the area of industrial cooperation.
