Turkmenistan and the United States are intensifying their economic dialogue and preparing a visit by a large American business delegation to the Turkmen capital.
Expanding partnership was discussed at a meeting between Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Washington, Esen Aydogdyev, and Eric Stewart, Executive Director of the US-Turkmenistan Business Council, along with top managers of the council's member companies, the Turkmenistan International Information Center reported, citing the press service of the Turkmen diplomatic mission in the United States.
During the talks, the participants examined in detail the prospects for deepening bilateral cooperation. Priority areas for investment and joint projects included industry and energy, with plans to modernize infrastructure and introduce modern technologies; transport and logistics, with an emphasis on developing new trade corridors; and agriculture, with the aim of sharing expertise and supplying equipment.
During the meeting, Ambassador Esen Aydogdyev briefed his American partners on Turkmenistan's key economic priorities, emphasizing their particular significance in the context of preparations for the 35th anniversary of the republic's independence.
Representatives of the American business community and Turkmen diplomats noted that the Business Council remains the main driver and effective platform for strengthening direct trade and investment dialogue between Ashgabat and Washington, and the upcoming visit of the US delegation aims to translate these plans into practical contracts.
As Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted to Al Arabiya TV channel in February of this year, hundreds of economic projects worth approximately $45 billion have been implemented or are underway in Turkmenistan with the participation of American companies over the years.
"Largest American companies have long been successfully operating in the Turkmen market”. Their activities cover key sectors - fuel and energy, transportation, electric power, software, agriculture, and other industries. We welcome and highly value this cooperation and will continue to encourage and support it," Hero-Arkadag emphasized.
