The leaders of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan agreed to develop partnerships in the oil and gas and other sectors of the economy

 Talks between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation Rustam Minnikhanov, who arrived in our country on a working visit, were held in Ashgabat on Monday, the State News Agency TDH reported.

 During the talks in a one-on-one format and in an expanded composition of delegations, the parties discussed issues of expanding trade and economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and Tatarstan in a number of areas, including in the oil and gas sector.

 As Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized, Turkmenistan, being one of the world's largest producers of hydrocarbons, standed for the establishment of broad international cooperation in the field of energy. Increase in oil and gas production, improvement in product quality, raise in volumes and diversification of energy supplies to world markets were the priority areas of our country's energy policy.

 The President noted the established fruitful contacts between Tatneft and KER-Holding and the State Concerns «Turkmennebit» and «Turkmengas» in the fields of oil production and refining, construction and modernization of energy facilities.

 During the negotiations, it was noted that active cooperation was developing through PJSC TATNEFT. In particular, the company have had a contract for the provision of enhanced oil recovery services at the fields operated by the State Concern «Turkmennebit». In the period 2019-2020, repair work was carried out at 120 wells of the customer, more than 106 thousand tons of additional oil were produced. In January 2021, the production for the repair of used tubing was launched at the TATNEFT branch in Turkmenistan, the press service of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan reports.

 LLC «MC» KER-Holding «in 2009 opened its branch in Turkmenistan.  The company cooperates with the State Concerns «Turkmennebit» and «Turkmengas», with which it currently has two valid contracts in terms of the energy and oil production markets.

 Turkmenistan intended to further expand cooperation in this area to fully unleash its existing potential, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted during the meeting, having invited Tatarstan partners to participate in large infrastructure projects in the fuel and energy sector, transport and other industries.

 The parties also highlighted the importance of the working group on economic, scientific and technical cooperation

 At the end of 2020, the volume of trade between the parties amounted to USD 107 million. The main exports from Tatarstan are land vehicles, rubber, equipment and mechanical devices.  In turn, mainly plastics and plastic products, vegetables, etc. Are supplied to Tatarstan, the press service of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan notes.

 Turkmenistan is one of the largest consumers of KAMAZ vehicles in Central and Central Asia. Today the fleet of KAMAZ vehicles in our country totals more than 9 thousand units.  Almost the entire serial line of KAMAZ trucks is represented in Turkmenistan – dump trucks, heavy and four-wheel drive vehicles, as well as a large range of special vehicles based on the KAMAZ chassis, specially designed for many sectors of the national economy.  New cars and special equipment on the KAMAZ chassis are operated in difficult desert conditions.  At the moment, there is a contract for the supply of 1,982 units of equipment to Turkmenistan in 2019-2021.  By August this year, it plans to ship the last batch of 189 units.

 “We have very big intentions to expand cooperation through KAMAZ,” Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted.

 “We are ready to be present and work further in all areas,” Rustam Minnikhanov concluded.
