Turkmenistan continues to supply electricity to neighboring Afghanistan in accordance with existing contracts, the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
As noted, Turkmen electricity is supplied to Afghanistan in several directions, which makes it possible to provide electricity to almost all northern provinces of Afghanistan, the western and northwestern regions of the country, including the provinces of Herat, Badgis, Jouzjan, Balkh, Faryab, as well as the cities of Mazar-e-Sharif, Shibergan , Herat and others.
At present, at the initiative of Turkmenistan, the implementation of the project for the construction of a 500 kV high-voltage transmission line along the route Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan is in the active phase.
As the Foreign Ministry previously reported, after the Taliban came to power in neighboring Afghanistan, officials of the state agencies of Turkmenistan maintained regular contacts with Taliban representatives on the protection of the state border, customs, sanitary and other types of control and supervision. At the same time, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Kabul and the Consulates General of the country in Herat and Mazar-e-Sharif continue to work as usual.
