The Agreement for Friendship and Cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation creates a solid legal basis for the stable development of bilateral relations.  This was noted in a letter from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

In his letter, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, on behalf of the people and government of Turkmenistan, as well as on his own behalf, sent heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Vladimir Putin and all the friendly people of the Russian Federation on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation.

“The past period convincingly shows that the Treaty not only meets the historical traditions of friendship and good neighborliness of our peoples, but also creates a solid legal basis for the stable development of bilateral relations,” the message of the President of Turkmenistan says.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov also expressed his conviction that “the implementation of the potential provided for in the Treaty will serve to further strengthen and expand Turkmen-Russian cooperation in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres”.
