France has appealed to oil-producing states to increase its production against the backdrop of continuing price increases, French media reported, Interfax reports.

«We need producing countries to produce more on an exceptional basis», the Le Parisien newspaper quoted on Monday from a statement by the French administration made «on the sidelines» of the G7 meeting in Germany.

The French side also pointed to the possibility of diversifying the sources of oil supplies at the expense of Iran and Venezuela.

The publication notes that this statement was made at a time when the G7 is discussing the tightening of sanctions against Russia and the possibility of setting a price ceiling at the world level for Russian oil.
