Further strengthening of bilateral inter-parliamentary relations was an important topic of Monday's telephone conversation between Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, TDH reports.

As stated, at present, Turkmenistan and Pakistan are actively cooperating in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

In particular, both countries take an active part in major energy and communication projects being implemented in the region. Among them is the construction of the transnational gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India, as well as the laying of a high-voltage power line and fiber-optic communication along the route Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan.

In the general opinion, the successful implementation of these large-scale projects will give new impetus to the socio-economic and infrastructural development of the entire region, and will become the main factor for peace and sustainable development.

In this aspect, the parties noted the relevance of inter-parliamentary cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of lawmaking, organization of regular meetings and consultations of parliamentarians of the two countries.
