The conclusion of an agreement on investment guarantees will stimulate the intensification of investment cooperation between the two countries. This was stated by the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Kim Jin Pyo at the talks with the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who has been on an official visit to this country since November 28.

In this regard, Kim Jin Pyo noted the need for the parties to finalize this document as soon as possible.

On Monday, at a meeting in the National Assembly, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the parliaments of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea. An exchange of views also took place on the prospects for economic cooperation, including in the fields of energy and industrial infrastructure, communications and communications, the textile industry and forestry. This was reported in a press release from the legislature of the Republic of Korea.

“Turkmenistan, which boasts the world's fourth-largest natural gas reserves, and Korea, which has superior technology, have complementary economic structures”, - Kim Jin Pyo said. As an example, the construction with the participation of Korean companies of the Kiyanly gas chemical complex worth about 3 billion US dollars, which was put into operation in September 2018, was mentioned.

In this regard, the Speaker of the Korean Parliament expressed hope that even more Korean companies will be able to take part in energy and infrastructure projects in Turkmenistan.

As Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted, Turkmenistan will continue cooperation with Korean companies in the energy sector, and also supported the proposal to expand the teaching of the Korean language in Turkmen schools and invited the speaker of the National Assembly of South Korea to visit Turkmenistan at any convenient time.

Chairman of the National Assembly Kim also asked Turkmenistan to support the holding of the World Expo 2030 in Busan.

The delegation accompanying the head of the Halk Maslakhaty in Seoul includes the heads of committees of the Parliament, the State Concern "Turkmenchemistry", the State Committee for Water Resources, Bank for Foreign Affairs, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, as well as the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Korea.
