The delegation of Turkmenistan, which paid a working visit to Tokyo to participate in the 9th meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Dialogue «Central Asia + Japan», last Friday took part in a six-sided meeting with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and also held a number of bilateral negotiations. This is reported by the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting with the Prime Minister, the parties exchanged views on cooperation between Japan and the countries of Central Asia in the political, trade and economic fields. It was emphasized that the common intention to deepen cooperation will become a solid basis for the further development of multilateral cooperation within the framework of the Central Asia + Japan Dialogue.
On the same day, members of the Turkmen delegation met with the head of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Akihiko Tanaka. During the meeting, the importance of training programs at JICA in such areas as economics and finance, education, entrepreneurship, natural gas processing technologies, transport and logistics, and tourism was noted. The parties also discussed the implementation of projects in Turkmenistan.
At the meeting of Rashid Meredov with the Minister of Digital Reforms of Japan, Taro Kono, issues of studying Japan's best practices in the field of digitalization were discussed.
The head of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry also held a meeting with the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, Yasutoshi Nishimura, during which the issues of updating the Roadmap for cooperation in the field of infrastructure development of Turkmenistan were discussed. They also discussed the relevance of Japanese experience in green and hydrogen energy, the creation of high-tech industries. Attention was paid to attracting small and medium Japanese enterprises to doing business in Turkmenistan and Turkmen – in Japan.
At the end of the meeting, a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of infrastructure was signed between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan.
Preparations for the implementation of energy projects discussed at talks in Islamabad
The issues of practical implementation of the projects of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline and the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) power transmission lines were discussed in Islamabad by the delegation of Turkmenistan, which, on behalf of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, is on a working visit to Pakistan on January 31 – February 4, informs the website of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan.
