President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received on Tuesday the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Mikail Jabbarov, who arrived in Ashgabat at the head of a representative delegation to participate in the 7th meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Azerbaijani Commission on Economic Cooperation, TDH reports.

As the head of state noted, Turkmenistan attaches great importance to expanding the multifaceted partnership with Azerbaijan.  Today, interstate cooperation is successfully developing across the entire spectrum of areas.  Both countries also interact constructively within international and regional structures, supporting each other's initiatives.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the need to strengthen the role of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Azerbaijani Commission on Economic Cooperation as a coordinating body for the development of relations in trade, economic, energy, transport and communications, scientific, technical, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres.

The President discussed with the Minister the prospects for bilateral partnership, focusing on the advantages of the geographical location of both countries, which creates the preconditions for joint projects of international importance both in the field of energy supplies and in the transport and communications sector, including using the potential of sea ports, increasing cargo transportation in the Caspian Sea and  creating transport corridors and new communication channels.
