Prospects for the development of interstate cooperation were discussed during a telephone conversation on Thursday between Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, TDH reports.
At the beginning of the conversation, the interlocutors warmly congratulated each other on the upcoming New Year, wishing the peoples of the two countries peace, happiness, prosperity and prosperity. Taking this opportunity, the Uzbek leader also conveyed warm words of greetings and best wishes to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Thanking the head of Uzbekistan for the initiative to hold a telephone conversation, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that each of their meetings or negotiations are, first of all, high symbols of good neighborliness, friendship and brotherhood of the Turkmen and Uzbek peoples. It was emphasized that it is during regular contacts between the leaders of the two countries that the most significant issues related to the further strengthening of the Turkmen-Uzbek strategic partnership are considered.
Focusing on the need to continue such a dialogue, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan emphasized that today time requires greater unity, consolidation of efforts and coordination of actions from neighboring and friendly states to ensure sustainable and stable development in Central Asia.
Having declared the common intention of the two states to further develop fraternal relations only on an ascending line, the interlocutors stated that Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation is currently being filled with new content.
One of the important topics of discussion was the Great Silk Road, which in the past passed through the territories of both countries, connecting Asia and Europe for centuries. Being in its center, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are today doing a lot to revive this historical route and use its enormous potential in modern conditions.
In this regard, the readiness of both countries to intensify strategic partnership in the field of transport and energy was noted.
Noting that the outgoing year was full of important events in Turkmen-Uzbek relations, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan expressed confidence that in 2024 the high dynamics of bilateral political and diplomatic interaction will be maintained, and successful trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation will continue.
