Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, during a working visit to Abu Dhabi, held a number of negotiations with the leadership of the UAE on the development of interstate cooperation, TDH reports.

Upon arrival on Thursday, January 4, the distinguished guest was met at the airport of the Emirate capital by UAE Minister of Energy Suhail Al Mazrouei and other officials.

Then the head of the Halk Maslahaty met with the representative of the Office of the President of the UAE in Turkmenistan, Mohamed Saeed Mohamed Al-Ariki, discussing with him the potential of Turkmen-Emirati cooperation.  The main areas of partnership are the trade and economic sphere, the banking and financial sector and energy – both traditional and “green”.  Another important track of interaction today, according to the parties, is transport and logistics.

Then, at the Al Shati Palace, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with the President of the UAE Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan.  The interlocutors discussed relations between the two countries in various areas of development, investment and economics, including renewable energy, food security, infrastructure development and other vital areas.

In terms of implementing the bilateral agenda, the role of the joint Turkmen-Emirati cooperation committee was emphasized, in the vast spectrum of which, in addition to issues of economic partnership, the topics of humanitarian dialogue, including in the fields of science and education, culture and art, sports and tourism, also occupy an important place.

The progress of previous agreements was also reviewed and new agreements were reached.

Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan highly appreciated the significant contribution of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to strengthening relations between the two countries.  The Head of the People's Council invited the President of the UAE to visit Turkmenistan.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also held a working meeting with the participation of members of the government delegation accompanying him on his trip to the UAE.  Among the key issues discussed were the expansion of transport links, including air traffic.  In this regard, it was noted that the Ashgabat-Abu Dhabi route is being added to the existing regular flight line Ashgabat-Dubai.
