The state concern Türkmengaz and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) signed two Memorandums of Cooperation in the oil and gas sector on Friday, TDH reports.
The documents were signed following the visit of Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the United Arab Emirates on January 4-5, 2024.
In particular, the Memorandum of Understanding between the State Concern «Turkmengas» and ADNOC is aimed at the intention of the parties to attract certain strategic partners for the development of the III stage of the Galkynysh field and their possible participation in the implementation of energy projects related to the construction of gas pipeline infrastructure intended for the supply of natural gas to countries of the region and other states.
The Memorandum of Cooperation between the State Concern «Turkmengas» and ADNOC provides for the parties’ intention to explore the potential opportunities for scientific, technical and economic cooperation in the field of reducing methane emissions into the atmosphere.
On the same day, a Cooperation Agreement was signed between the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan and First Abu Dhabi Bank.
As Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized at a meeting in Dubai with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dragon Oil, Syed Al Tayer, among the priority tasks set for the oil and gas industry of Turkmenistan is to increase the volume of production and refining of oil and natural gas, as well as the export of Turkmen energy resources and finished products. oil and gas chemical products.
It was also noted that the TAPI (Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India) gas pipeline is currently under construction, designed to give a powerful impetus to the socio-economic development of the entire Asian region. It is expected that in the future the third stage of development of the giant Galkynysh field will become the source for ensuring the supply of “blue fuel” through this main pipeline.
Hero-Arkadag emphasized during the meeting that the United Arab Emirates is a long-standing and reliable partner with which Turkmenistan successfully interacts both on a bilateral and multilateral basis, primarily on the platform of the largest international organizations and authoritative regional structures.
This was confirmed by the working visit of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Dubai early last month to participate in the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-28). Congratulating on the successful holding of the UN World Climate Summit, Arkadag expressed confidence that all the initiatives voiced from the rostrum of this major international forum will serve to strengthen international dialogue in the name of a happy and prosperous future of the planet.
It was emphasized that Turkmenistan, which announced its accession to the Global Methane Commitment, is aware of the need to continue targeted work in this direction at the international and national level.
Thus, in connection with accession to the Paris Agreement, a number of relevant government programs were adopted in our country, including the National Climate Change Strategy, according to which measures are being taken to reduce and eradicate the negative consequences of methane emissions into the atmosphere.
We are talking, first of all, about a phased transition to the introduction and use of modern environmentally friendly and resource-saving technologies, primarily in the oil and gas, transport, electric power sectors, agriculture, construction industry, etc.
All initiatives announced by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov related to ensuring environmental well-being, starting this year, will be consistently and steadily implemented.
