Turkmenistan aims to strengthen cooperation with financial institutions of Japan

 During a working visit to Japan on January 22-23, the Turkmen delegation led by Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with the Chairman and CEO of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Ishiguro Norihoko, as well as the Chairman and CEO of the Japan Export and Investment Insurance Agency  (NEXI) Atsuo Kuroda, reports the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

 At the meeting with JETRO, issues of implementing previously reached agreements to stimulate the development of bilateral trade were discussed.  In particular, the possibilities of organizing cross trade missions, studying the issue of opening a JETRO office in Turkmenistan to attract small and medium-sized Japanese enterprises to do business in Turkmenistan and Turkmen in Japan, and opening the Trade House of Turkmenistan in Japan were discussed.

 The intention of the parties to hold a business forum together with JETRO in the first half of 2024 was also indicated.

 As part of the negotiations with NEXI, new forms of cooperation in the investment field were discussed, including the possibility of attracting various financial institutions to finance priority projects in Turkmenistan.

 The parties also spoke in favor of further diversification of bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Since the opening of the transnational Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline in 2009, over 320 billion cubic meters of Turkmen gas have been exported to the Celestial Empire. In January-November 2021, Uzbekistan imported 141.2 million liters of motor gasoline from Turkmenistan. This was reported by the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan. Thus, Turkmenistan ranks second in the supply of motor gasoline to the neighboring country.

Last Wednesday, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting in the administrative center of Lebap velayat, at which he heard reports from the heads of the country's fuel and energy complex and defined the tasks of developing the gas industry for the future, the State News Agency of the country reports.
