The President of Turkmenistan summed up the results of 2023 and outlined plans for the current year

As a result of the dedicated work of our people, in 2023 we achieved great success and fulfilled our plans. This was stated by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, speaking at an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Friday, at which the results of the country’s development last year were summed up and plans for 2024 were outlined.
As the head of state noted, a high rate of economic development will be ensured in 2023. GDP growth amounted to 6.3%, including in the industrial sector - 4.3%, trade - 12.8%, and agriculture - 4.4%. The volume of investments increased by 7.5%.
The President also said that the volume of exports of manufactured products reached 11.4 billion US dollars.
Last year, using all sources of financing, 78 industrial and social facilities were opened, and 1 million 897 thousand square meters of housing were put into operation. Thousands of families celebrated housewarming parties. 12 thousand 274 new jobs have been created, Serdar Berdimuhamedov continued.
Among the major projects implemented last year, the head of state named the opening of the “smart” city Arkadag, built for the first time in the history of the country, as well as the commissioning of a high-voltage overhead power line along the Mary-Ahal route, two gas turbine units at the Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries, dozens of new enterprises in various fields.
Farmers, having reaped high harvests, ensured the country’s food security, the State Budget for 2024 was adopted, wages, pensions and state benefits were once again increased, noted the President of Turkmenistan.
Outlining plans for this year, Serdar Berdimuhamedov said that “in accordance with the “Program of socio-economic development of Turkmenistan and investments in 2024”, this year it is planned to build and put into operation residential buildings with a total area of 430 thousand square meters, educational institutions on 5360 places, preschool institutions for 1200 places.
To improve the social and living standards of the people, within the framework of the implementation of this Program in the velayats and the capital, it is planned to start the construction of many new buildings, as well as complete the construction of a number of facilities and buildings, the head of state continued.
This year the following will be built and put into operation: in Ashgabat - a water treatment plant with a capacity of 150 thousand cubic meters of drinking water, an International Treatment and Rehabilitation Center and an International Scientific and Clinical Center for Physiology; in Ahal region - the 2nd stage of a cement plant; in the Balkan region - a road bridge across the Garabogazgol Bay, the International Air Terminal Complex in the village of Jebel; in Lebap velayat - the 2nd stage of a cement plant; In the Mary region, it is planned to commission the Tejen-Mary section of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat high-speed highway.
Over 320 billion cubic meters of Turkmen gas supplied since the start of operation of the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline, – CNPC
