Sinopec Corporation makes a significant contribution to the development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and China in the fuel and energy sector

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Turkmenistan Ji Shumin visited the branch of the Chinese petrochemical corporation, Sinopec Petroleum Technology Corporation, in Turkmenistan. The diplomat was briefed on the company’s production and business activities in our country.

The company is a specialized subsidiary of the Sinopec Group – China’s largest oil refining and petrochemical company. It provides well drilling and technical maintenance services and engineering support for oil and gas production projects.

During the visit, the Ambassador praised the contribution of the Turkmen branch of the Sinopec Petroleum Technology Corporation to the development of Turkmen-Chinese cooperation in the energy sector. He noted the need to take advantage of the historic opportunities opening up through the alignment of China’s Belt and Road Initiative with Turkmenistan’s strategy to revive the Great Silk Road.

Sinopec, the Chinese petrochemical corporation, is implementing oilfield services projects in Turkmenistan, aimed at increasing well productivity, ensuring the production of over 1 million tons of oil at the facilities of the Türkmennebit State Concern and at major fields in the country.

Oilfield services provided include directional and horizontal drilling, sidetracking to restore old wells and others.

The projects, in which the Chinese corporation is involved, encompass not only the facilities of the Türkmennebit State Concern but also a number of large gas and oil and gas fields in the country.
