BOTAŞ aims to establish supplies of Turkmen gas via the Trans-Caspian Gas Pipeline to Türkiye and Europe

For the BOTAŞ Company, a strategic objective remains the transportation of Turkmen gas to Türkiye via a Trans-Caspian pipeline, with its subsequent delivery to Europe. This was stated by the Chairman of the Board, General Manager of the Turkish company BOTAŞ Abdulvahit Fidan, while speaking at the Conference “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan 2026”, being held in Ashgabat from October 21 to 23.

“Our cooperation with Turkmenistan holds a special place within our extensive supply and trading network. The deep bonds of friendship and fraternity between our nations serve as a solid foundation for future collaboration in the energy sector,” the speaker said.

“The commencement of Turkmen gas supplies to Türkiye in 2025 marked an important milestone. We view this as a starting point for a much broader partnership. Our next goal is to build upon this success and to establish long-term and sustainable relationships in the sphere of gas supplies,” Fidan added.

He noted that the ninth meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation took place in Ashgabat this past June. During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in the energy sector. The development of regional energy ties is a key element of Türkiye’s energy policy.

“In this context, a strategic goal remains the transportation of Turkmen gas to Türkiye via the Trans-Caspian pipeline with its further delivery to Europe through Turkish territory,” Fidan stated.

According to him, Türkiye’s well-developed natural gas infrastructure and BOTAŞ’s access to various markets create significant opportunities for achieving this objective. To translate these opportunities into concrete projects, producers, transporters and buyers must reach a mutual understanding regarding technical and commercial matters. The cooperation of all interested parties will be of critical importance.

“For its part, BOTAŞ is ready to support this endeavor. We will contribute our expertise in the supply, transportation and trading of natural gas, working in cooperation with our Turkmen partners and all other participants in the process. We are convinced that translating our shared goals into concrete projects will provide a fresh momentum to energy cooperation between our countries,” the head of the Turkish company emphasized.

“I hope that our cooperation will open up new markets for Turkmen natural gas – first in Türkiye, and subsequently, via Türkiye, in Europe. This will yield long-term benefits for our peoples and contribute to peace and stability throughout our entire region,” Abdulvahit Fidan said.
