At the GECF summit, issues of cooperation for reliable fuel supplies to global markets are discussed

On October 27, the Eighth Summit of the heads of state and government of the member countries of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) took place at the World Trade Center in Moscow.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the country participated in the Summit as a guest. The Turkmen delegation was led by the State Minister of Turkmenistan – Chairman of the Türkmengaz State Concern Maksat Babayev.

Participants of the Forum discussed the role of natural gas in ensuring global energy security and ways to further strengthen cooperation for guaranteeing reliable supplies of this fuel to global markets.

Possessing one of the world’s largest natural gas resource bases, Turkmenistan consistently pursues a balanced and forward-looking energy policy. This approach integrates responsible resource development, modern infrastructure, gas processing, petrochemical production, technological innovation and sustainable economic development.

The expansion of production capacities, the strengthening of export potential and the creation of opportunities for broad international cooperation through the diversification of energy supplies lie at the core of Turkmenistan’s long-term energy strategy.

Following the GECF Summit, the Moscow Declaration was adopted.
