Prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Russia discussed in Moscow

The issues of bilateral cooperation in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic and humanitarian fields were discussed on Thursday in Moscow at the meetings that the delegation of Turkmenistan held with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, the website of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reports.
From the Turkmen side, the talks were attended by Vice-Chairman, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Supreme Control Chamber of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
During the talks, the effectiveness of interaction between the foreign affairs agencies of the two countries was emphasized. Issues of cooperation within the framework of regional and international structures were discussed, mainly on the platform of the UN, OSCE, CIS, etc.
An exchange of views took place on the Caspian issues, including preparations for the Sixth Caspian Summit, scheduled to be held in Turkmenistan. Security issues, including environmental ones, were discussed.
The possibilities of expanding bilateral contacts in the field of science, education and medicine were also considered in detail.
It was noted that large-scale reforms being carried out in Turkmenistan aimed at diversifying the national economy, creating new profitable industries, and producing a wide range of high-quality, export-oriented products open wide opportunities for mutually beneficial partnership.
In order to improve the work of the Intergovernmental Commission, it was recommended to intensify the activity of the Turkmen-Russian and Russian-Turkmen business councils with the involvement of representatives of the business circles of both countries in this work.
During the meeting, which was attended by members of the government, high-ranking representatives of government agencies of the two countries, an exchange of views took place on specific measures to diversify partnership in such important areas as industry, mechanical engineering, energy, transport and communications, financial and banking.
The importance of contacts in the field of digital technologies was especially emphasized.
Following the meetings, a number of intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents were signed.
