Representatives of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan discussed plans to strengthen cooperation in the gas industry

 Chairman of the Board of the main gas company of Kazakhstan JSC NC «QazaqGaz» Sanzhar Zharkeshov arrived on a visit to Ashgabat, the company reports.

 On Tuesday, April 2, the Kazakh delegation met with the Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Batyr Amanov and the Chairman of the State Concern “Turkmengas” Maksat Babayev.  During the negotiations, the parties discussed plans to strengthen fruitful cooperation between the two countries in the gas industry.

 In particular, the parties noted their mutual interest in the joint development of production assets, the implementation of gas pipeline projects in the territory of the two countries and gas supplies on a mutually beneficial basis.  Following the meetings, the parties expressed their readiness to cooperate to expand strategic cooperation in the gas industry.

 Earlier, Kazakhstan's Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliev said that Kazakhstan is ready to consider Turkmenistan's proposal for the supply of electricity and gas to ensure energy security and taking into account commercial attractiveness.

 In November 2023, National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, at a meeting with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, confirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to intensify bilateral dialogue on the supply of Turkmen natural gas to Kazakhstan.

 Joint Stock Company NC “QazaqGaz” manages a centralized infrastructure for the transportation of commercial gas through main gas pipelines and gas distribution networks, ensures international transit and sells gas on the domestic and foreign markets, and also develops, finances, builds and operates pipelines and gas storage facilities.
