The Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, the State Concern "Turkmengas" and the German International Cooperation Corporation (GIZ) signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of combating climate change, Orient reported on May 14.
The signing ceremony of the Memorandum took place on Tuesday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on the sidelines of the conference “30 years of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union: working together for the future.”
The memorandum provides for the implementation of the project “EU for a green Turkmenistan: political dialogue and action to combat climate change, 2024 – 2027”.
The conference is attended by heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Turkmenistan, representatives of the Mejlis, ministries and departments of our country, international experts, and heads of regional projects.
The forum was organized by the EU delegation to Turkmenistan and the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Special Representative of the European Union for Central Asia Teri Hakala spoke at the panel discussion, summarizing the results of interaction and its prospects.
At the thematic sessions of the forum, issues related to the development of inter-parliamentary relations, interaction in the field of security, trade, education, and “green” energy are discussed.
