The President of Turkmenistan and the Prime Minister of Iraq discussed the supply of Turkmen natural gas

During a telephone conversation on March 5, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Prime Minister of Iraq Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani discussed the supply of Turkmen natural gas to Iraq through Iran under the swap scheme, TDH reports.
As noted, Turkmenistan strictly follows the policy of exporting its energy resources to world markets through diversification. In this regard, it was noted that two years ago, Turkmenistan and Iraq began working together in the gas sector, as a result of which an agreement was reached on the annual supply of 10 billion cubic meters of Turkmen natural gas to Iraq under the swap scheme with neighboring Iran.
The Prime Minister of Iraq, confirming his country's readiness to further intensify cooperation in the energy sector, said that the necessary work is being carried out for this.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov, noting the need to intensify bilateral diplomatic relations, confirmed Turkmenistan's readiness to provide comprehensive assistance in creating favorable conditions for the opening of a diplomatic mission of Iraq in Ashgabat and its fruitful work.
During the conversation, the President said that on December 12, Ashgabat will host an international forum on the occasion of the proclamation of 2025 as the "International Year of Peace and Trust" by the UN General Assembly on the initiative of Ashgabat, as well as the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, and invited Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani to this representative conference.
The Prime Minister of Iraq, accepting the invitation, said that it would be a great honor for him to take part in these events, and also noted the importance of Turkmenistan's international initiatives aimed at ensuring global peace and sustainable development.
The parties also exchanged views on other areas of bilateral cooperation of mutual interest.
