Priority areas of Turkmen-Chinese cooperation were discussed at a meeting between Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and First Vice Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Ding Xuexiang, who arrived on the visit at the request of Chinese President Xi Jinping, TDH reported on April 15.
Ding Xuexiang, emphasizing China's great importance to strengthening its partnership with Turkmenistan, noted that currently, Turkmen-Chinese relations, based on respect and equality, are a model of effective interstate cooperation.
The guest noted that the results of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's recent friendly visit to China were an important step in strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Hero-Arkadag emphasized that Turkmenistan, implementing an "open door" policy, attaches great importance to developing friendly ties with China. Today, interstate relations, based on the principles of mutual understanding and trust, are being enriched with new content.
As noted, Turkmen-Chinese relations encompass political and diplomatic, trade and economic, fuel and energy, transport and communications, logistics, industrial, technological, and cultural and humanitarian spheres.
Fuel and energy partnership is a priority area of bilateral cooperation. Its outcome is a gas pipeline that transports Turkmen gas to China. In accordance with a document recently signed by the President of Turkmenistan, joint development of the next stage of the Galkynysh gas field will begin with the Chinese corporation CNPC.
They also noted the significant potential for developing partnerships in transport and logistics, as well as cooperation in the textile industry, agriculture, and high technology.
In this regard, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov confirmed Turkmenistan's readiness to further develop a fruitful partnership with China.
