President: today an important task is to increase the efficiency of the oil and gas complex

Priority issues of state life were discussed during a regular government meeting, which President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired by videoconference last Friday.  During the meeting, Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Shakhym Abdrakhmanov reported on the state of affairs in the structural divisions of the fuel and energy complex and the work on increasing oil production.

 In particular, it was noted that at the Northern Goturdepe field, the State Concern «Turkmennebit» has been drilling production and exploration wells, and the State Corporation «Turkmengeology» – wells intended for exploration of deposits in the lower layer.  Services were provided to increase the productivity of wells, as well as to drill new underground wells.

 In the west of the country, the development of the new Uzynada field continued.  Currently, several wells were involved there, and new wells have been drilled.

 On the basis of 2D seismic studies carried out by the State Corporation «Turkmengeology», the State Concern «Turkmennebit» started drilling an exploration well with a depth of 6,300 meters at the South Uzynada site.

 After listening to the report, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that actual important task was to increase the efficiency of the oil and gas complex, designed to make a significant contribution to the socio-economic development of the country.

 The head of the state addressed the Vice-Chairman with a number of specific instructions on accelerated industrial development of new oil and gas promising areas, strengthening the industry's resource base, modernizing its infrastructure on an innovative basis, and also ordered to keep under constant control the timing of large investment projects, including construction  transnational gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India.

 Appropriate orders were given to attract additional investments in the fuel and energy complex, expand mutually beneficial cooperation with reliable foreign oil and gas companies with significant experience in the energy sector and advanced technologies.

Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan, India and Pakistan discussed the progress of the TAPI project
