The interests of Turkmenistan and the SCO coincide in strategic parameters, said Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, speaking on Thursday on the digital system at the 20th meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states.

At the same time, the Vice-Chairman added that it is necessary to translate these interests into a practical plane, fill them with real content, namely, by entering promising joint international projects.

- The issues of trade and economic cooperation, industrial cooperation, creation of high-tech industries, improvement of the structure of trade between Turkmenistan and the SCO countries are also areas where there are prospects for mutually beneficial and long-term interaction, - S. Berdimuhamedov said.

- We are also aware of the significant potential of our cooperation in the energy and transport spheres, in trade and investment, industry and agriculture, in the field of high technologies and innovations, - the Vice-Chairman claimed.

He also emphasized the development potential in the transport sector and the fact that the combined transport and logistics system being created in Turkmenistan is focused on connecting main routes along the North-South and East-West lines.

- In this regard, the government of Turkmenistan will continue to support the expansion of contacts between business circles in order to develop specific projects in these areas, - S. Berdimuhamedov said.

He also noted that humanitarian contacts are an important part of Turkmenistan's interaction with the SCO countries, adding that common historical, cultural and spiritual ties between countries and peoples are a solid basis for expanding relations in the spheres of culture, science, education, health care, sports and tourism.

- This is of particular importance in the current conditions, when the joint efforts of states in the fight against the pandemic, the manifestation of solidarity, mutual assistance and support are required, - S. Berdimuhamedov emphasized.

The Vice-Chairman also conveyed an invitation from President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to all SCO participants, members and observers to participate in the International Conference of Ministers of Landlocked Developing Countries, which is planned to be held jointly with the UN in April 2022.
