In the territories adjacent to the Malay and Nayip gas fields in the Lebap region of Turkmenistan, a new dome was discovered in the lower layers of the Northern Dervush and Malay fields.  Chairman of the State Corporation «Turkmengeology» Merdan Rozyev reported this to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at a working meeting in Turkmenabat, the State Television and Radio Broadcasting of Turkmenistan reported.

As noted, the initial appraisal work showed that the gas reserves in the lower layers amount to 30 billion and 21.7 billion cubic meters, respectively.

According to Rozyev, Turkmengeologia plans to drill exploratory wells 4,000 meters deep in the Malay gas field and 3,200 meters deep in the Northern Dervush area.

Natural gas has been produced from the Malay field since 1986.  President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that to date, more than 247 billion cubic meters of natural gas have been produced from this field with initial reserves of 358 billion 700 million cubic meters.

The important tasks of today are the continuation of work on gas production here, the expansion of the area, as well as the exploration and discovery of gas deposits in the lower layers of the developed layers.

In this regard, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted the need to accelerate work on the full-scale development of not only the Malay field, but also other gas fields, adding that the necessary conditions for this will be created in the future.

The head of state stressed that the State Concern «Turkmengas» will have ample opportunities to implement the plan for the production of additional volumes of natural gas in our country in the coming years.
