Representatives of Turkmenistan and Pakistan to discuss TAPI projects and power lines in Islamabad

 From January 30 to February 4, deputy minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Khadzhiev was seconded to Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, to conduct comprehensive negotiations on energy projects. The corresponding order was signed by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during the government meeting held on Friday.

 The purpose of the visit is to conduct comprehensive negotiations on the projects of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline and the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan power transmission line with a view to their practical implementation.

 Earlier, on January 24, in a telephone conversation, the foreign ministers of Turkmenistan, India and Pakistan discussed the practical issues of implementing the projects of the TAPI gas pipeline and power lines and fiber-optic communications along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) route.  In this regard, the need to intensify work at the bilateral and multilateral levels was emphasized.
