President of Turkmenistan Berdimuhamedov made an official visit to the Russian Federation on June 10, during which he held high-level talks with President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

Noting that President Serdar Berdimuhamedov is making his first foreign visit to Russia, Vladimir Putin stressed that this once again emphasizes the special nature of bilateral relations, which, thanks to his predecessor in the highest state post, Gurbanguly Myalikgulyevich Berdimuhamedov, have reached a truly strategic level.

One of the key sectors of interstate partnership is traditionally energy, the Russian President said, noting that special attention was paid to this topic.  Both sides expressed interest in establishing cooperation between the relevant departments, in supporting the initiatives of the business community, which are aimed at continuing the implementation of mutually beneficial undertakings.

In this regard, President Vladimir Putin mentioned that Gazprom is cooperating with the State Concern «Turkmengas» to organize the export of Turkmen gas under a long-term contract that provides for the possibility of Russia purchasing «blue fuel» from Turkmenistan.  LUKOIL is negotiating the terms of participation as an operator of the Dostluk oil and gas condensate field development project in the Caspian Sea.

It was also noted that Tatneft, which is engaged in the repair and maintenance of oil wells, has been successfully operating in Turkmenistan for a long time.  The introduction of modern Russian technologies has made it possible to significantly increase the productivity of the oil fields and create new jobs.  Other major Russian energy and industrial companies are also showing interest in implementing projects in Turkmenistan.

Stressing that Turkmenistan pays great attention to cooperation with the Russian Federation, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov invited Vladimir Putin to pay an official visit to our country at any time convenient for him.  This invitation was gratefully accepted by the Russian leader.

During the talks, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the Turkmen-Russian strategic partnership.  President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that Russia is one of the major trade partners of Turkmenistan.  Economic cooperation concerns not only energy, but also industry, transport, infrastructure construction and other areas.

In the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin presented President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov with the Order of Friendship for his great contribution to strengthening the strategic partnership between the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan.

Then, in the Malachite Foyer, a ceremony of signing a bilateral document was held – Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Vladimir Putin put their signatures under the Declaration on deepening the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation.

Also during the visit, members of the Government delegation of Turkmenistan held meetings and negotiations with Russian colleagues in Moscow, during which topical issues and prospects for bilateral cooperation in various fields were discussed.  As a result, a large package of documents was signed.

At the end of the signing ceremony, the heads of the two states addressed the media representatives.  Addressing the media representatives, Serdar Berdimuhamedov highly appreciated the results of his official visit to the Russian Federation.

“Speaking of our bilateral relations, I would like to emphasize that they are on the rise, developing dynamically and consistently,” the head of Turkmenistan said.

Our states have sufficient potential to increase the volume of mutual trade, investment, implementation of projects in such areas as industry, transport, energy, agriculture and a number of other areas, Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted.
