Ashgabat and Tehran intend to increase volumes of mutual trade

 The presence of great prospects for bilateral partnership and the importance of a significant increase in the volume of trade between the two countries is recorded in the Joint Statement of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, which was signed following the summit talks in Tehran last Wednesday.

 “The parties, emphasizing the existence of great prospects for bilateral partnership, declared their intention to make efforts to fully use them for the benefit of the fraternal peoples of the two countries”, the Joint Statement of the leaders of the two neighboring friendly countries, which was published today in the central media of Turkmenistan, says.

 «The parties noted the importance of holding regular high-level meetings, which give momentum to relations between the two countries and make it possible to determine the priority vectors of joint cooperation», the document says.

 It also says that «having emphasized the key role of trade and economic interaction in bilateral relations, the parties stated the importance of a significant increase in the volume of trade between the two countries».

 In this regard, the parties noted «the need for progressive stimulation of business contacts, mutual presentations of goods produced in the two countries, the study of export-import opportunities and the search for new forms of promoting economic partnership».

 «The parties noted the need to explore cooperation in the energy sector, especially in the field of oil and gas, including their SWAP, transit and trade», the leaders of Turkmenistan and Iran said in a joint statement.
