Turkmen section of TAPI gas pipeline brought to border with Afghanistan

A report on the pace of construction of the Turkmen section of the transnational gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India was made at a government meeting last Friday by Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Myratgeldi Meredov.As reported, this section is fully provided with steel pipes. The State Concern “Turkmengas” has entered into an agreement with a Hong Kong company to oversee the construction of the pipeline and gas compressor facilities.Currently, pipes have been welded along the entire section of the TAPI gas pipeline passing through the territory of our country, which has been brought to the Turkmen-Afghan border. The laying of welded pipes continues.In accordance with the contract concluded by the State Concern “Turkmengas” on the supply of gate valves and various auxiliary equipment for the Turkmen section of the gas pipeline, it is planned to install large-sized valves along the gas pipeline.Thus, construction and installation works in the Turkmen section of TAPI are proceeding at a high pace.Summarizing the report, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that the TAPI project is an important component of Turkmenistan’s energy strategy. The energy mains originating in the deposits of our country are called upon to become important links in the new global energy security architecture.Having decided to keep under constant close monitoring the progress of the construction of the Turkmen section of the TAPI gas pipeline, the head of state addressed a number of specific instructions to the by Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, including on cooperation in implementing this project with international organizations, reliable financial institutions and oil and gas companies.
